The APA is the world's largest amateur pool league with more than 250,000 members competing in 8-Ball and 9-Ball Leagues throughout North America.
It's all about having fun, meeting new people and playing pool!
The APA Pool Leagues play by ball-in-hand rules -- the same rules the Professionals of the sport play by (the ones on T.V.). This is a handicapped league - the fairest system that lets a very amateur player compete evenly with the most experienced player.
The equalizer handicap system is used to determine the amount of games a player has to win in order to capture the match. It allows a novice to win less games (8-Ball), or pocket less balls (9-Ball) than a more skilled opponent to win the match. It creates a greater level of competition for the higher skilled player by leveling the playing field for the novice player.
There are trophies to be displayed, patches to sew, cash to be won, and trips to Las Vegas, all at your fingertips! Aside from regular league play, there are lots of additional tournaments available to active members only. Check out the Events & Tournaments/Current Events link for more information.
"No other organization in pool gives ordinary players a chance to win a share of nearly $1.5 MILLION guaranteed cash and prizes paid out through its national tournaments."

At the beginning of each of three Sessions: Summer, Fall and Spring, we will develop the schedule for each Division and contact the Team Captains. On your league night, the host location for your match will have your scorecards – just ask the bartender for them.
You will be playing at your “home” bar (the bar of your choosing) approximately 50% of the session. When choosing your “home” location, please speak with the bar manager to assure that they have the space required for your team and that they don’t have any events that would prevent your team from being able to play out of their bar.
Teams are comprised of 5-8 Players, with 5 members playing per night. The cost to play each week is only $30.00 per team (or $6.00 per player). Please see the Team Manual and Local Bylaws for more information.
The membership fee is $25.00 annually.
